What a fun adventure and welcome distraction it was to pen my first children/family book Once Upon a River, in the unforgettably challenging year of Covid-19! And finding the talented artist Kasia Charko to illustrate, plus the added bonus of Mick Partlett overseeing the graphic design...all of us Alton villagers.

When Covid-19 breaks, I'm hoping my young readers will enjoy the chance to follow the scavenger hunt I'd added to the back of the book, collecting a fun giveaways along the way as they explore the historic stops in the village of Alton. Special thanks to Betty Starr for sharing her "message from the Queen" letter that I've included in the book too.
