Forests are a living, complex system! You can't separate each organism from each other because they all depend on one another. I liked the way the story was as much a biography of the author as it was a fairly scientific account of forestry.

“Monday's child is fair of face,
Tuesday's child is full of grace,
Wednesday's child is full of woe,
Thursday's child has far to go,
Friday's child is loving and giving,
Saturday's child works hard for a living,
But the child who is born on the Sabbath Day,
Is bonny and blithe and good and gay.”

“So avoid using the word ‘very’ because it’s lazy. A man is not very tired, he is exhausted. Don’t use very sad, use morose. Language was invented for one reason, boys - to woo women - and, in that endeavor, laziness will not do. It also won’t do in your essays.”
N.H. Kleinbaum, Dead Poets Society

Veronica Roth
“Human reason can excuse any evil; that is why it's so important that we don't rely on it.”
Veronica Roth , Divergent

“Angel, saint, Devil's spawn, good or evil, you've got me pinned to the wall and labeled as yours until the day I die. And if you die first, then it won't be long before I follow.”
V.C. Andrews, Petals on the Wind
