Maria is basically a dreamer who wouldn't be able to sit still even if you duct-taped her to a chair. She believes the world is there for all of us to see; to taste all its wines; to eat all its foods; to interact with and learn as many other cultures as you can because it's the only way to truly experience the world and all the amazing things it holds.

Originally born in New Jersey to a Sicilian father and West Virginian Mom, her parents couldn't seem to sit still either, and moved their brood of four (Maria and her three brothers, Fred, Arthur, and Anthony) often. Being the youngest, and the only girl, she learned very early how to be strong and stand up for herself. Writing and travel have always been her two main passions (of course we can't forget wine and olive oil!), though she's been a legal secretary, legal assistant, hotel manager, hospitality manager, EFL teacher, translator, editor, proofreader, and content writer. She has a crazy fear of flying even though she flies very often, and has a brother and a couple good friends who are pilots; but insists that if she ever won the lottery, she would buy a small boat and live on it forever. If she can get to her intended destination by ship, she will, though she thinks high-speed trains are great fun too.

When asked if the last chapter has been written, she said: "Well, my best friend, Kim, is due to join me in the next year or so, and we plan to travel all over the world. We're not sure of our final destination yet, but I know we'll enjoy the journey."
