She has worked in the healthcare sector for over twenty years. She earned a Bachelor of Science in Neuroscience from The University of Texas at Dallas and a Master of Arts in International Affairs from The American University of Paris.

In 2019, she created the Sankofa Newsletter Blog, a mini-guide to culture and news.

Her reading interests include books that involve culture, history, cooking, religion, sociology, and neuroscience.
