Co-founders and real-life sisters Monday and Thursday grew up on Avril Lavigne, anime and Ghanaian folktales their parents told them when the lights went out. They spent their childhood drawing and writing stories of their own, distributing them to friends and family. But between the sketches and stories, they rarely wrote about girls like them.
