I don't really vibe with prophecy / chosen one tropes, but this one is more of a folktale style, and it has great attention to detail with regards to the historical period in which it is loosely set. The author clearly did her research and

The Secret Diary of Adrian Mole, Aged 13 3/4 by Sue Townsend

It is entertaining, and pretty clever in the way it's peppered with references that puts it firmly in the time in which it is set (literally by date, being a diary!), making it feel very real, but it's also kinda depressing and none of the characters ...more

Some years ago, last time I watched the prequel movies, I said I had no intention of ever watching them again. But the story has crept back up on me, with people I know raving about this book, and so I gave in and gave it a try.

It is SO GOOD. Delici

Finally read it. Despite having taken so long to get to it, I knew very little about it and had fairly low expectations, given it has generally been the least favourite of Sanderson's secret project novels. But, in it for the fun and whimsy, I actual ...more

I have been looking and looking. Then we got wrapped up in the holidays.....and January has been tough.....I really want to talk to you. There is a chance that my son and I will be in England in late March to Early April or September/October time. What's the best way to reach you? I can't message you privately here.

Lizzie Hi Lori, I sent you a message, did you receive it?

I was listening to the audiobook and tbh I just wasn't getting into it, I found it too dull, rambling inner thoughts of the narrator... I also felt very uneasy reading it, knowing that it was going to get quite dark etc. I have way too many other more fun books on my TBR! Never read it in school, so I did feel like I 'ought' to, but.... i decided nope not right now!

Lori Wilen I see you abandoned The Handmaid's Tale. Makes me even happier that I deleted it from TBR shelf and all other bookshelves. I think I would have let like I was back in Ms. Hayes' english lit classes in high school.
