Jack Gain's first short story, COMMUNISM DOESN’T WORK, was a finalist for the Aura Estrada Fiction Prize and was published by the Boston Review in 2020. Since then, his fiction has been published by Arts of the Working Class and American Chordata, and shortlisted for the Desperate Literature Prize.

His forthcoming story, PORT BOU, was the winner of the Zoetrope: All-Story Short Fiction Competition and is due to be published in early 2022.
