Apresenta os programas «O Estado do Sítio» e «Mapa Mundo». É também comentador da SIC Notícias. Dirigiu a editoria de Internacional da Antena 1 e da RTP e foi diretor-adjunto da RDP. Fez reportagem de guerra e pós-conflitos em Timor-Leste, Palestina, Balcãs, Afeganistão e Ucrânia. Licenciado em Sociologia pela FLUP, é doutorado em Ciência Política e mestre em Sociedades e Políticas Europeias pelo ISCTE. É também investigador integrado do IPRI da Universidade Nova de Lisboa e professor universitário. Publicou a Breve História do Afeganistão de A a Z, João Aguardela: esta vida de marinheiro, Visão Global (em co-autoria com José Cutileiro), Irão: o País Nuclear, Palestina, Viver na Intifada e Por uma Vida Normal: Guerra e Paz na Jugoslávia.
