Amber C. Smith has been writing since she was nine, but The Black Rose is her first truly completed book. She graduated from the University of Washington with a degree in Business Administration which doesn't in any way help to further her writing, but it did give her plenty of time to write when ignoring her lectures. Amber attributes her dreams of being an author mostly to her love of the Percy Jackson series when she was a child. It was what inspired her to continue writing for years, even after she stopped reading as much. Her passion is heavily influenced by other fantasy authors, including Leigh Bardugo and Holly Black.
