Michelle Yes, I've read all of Patchett's books. Have you read her memoir about her friend Lucy Grealy? That is an amazing book, maybe the best of them all. However, my favorite line is all lit (what does this tell you about me?!?) is from Patron Saint: "She could leave her husband but not his car."

Jill I loved the Patron Saint of Liars as well -- I really like Ann Patchett. Bel Canto and The Magician's Assistant are probably two of my favorite books. I read her new one 'Run' and really liked it as well.

Michelle I think I've read it and seen it way too many times, but it still resonates. I do a series called "Writers and Their Works" for my day job, and we're doing a book on Harper Lee in fall 2009. A new, interesting-sounding bio of her came out last year but....I somehow stopped reading most bios a long time ago, and I've been too busy with school to read many BIG books, but at least I'll learn more about her as I edit.

It's great to see you on this site. Nonschool books--definite yay.

Jill Yay we can talk about non-school books now!! I reread To Kill a Mockingbird this year and it is just incredible.
