Rose Gronon is het pseudoniem van de Vlaamse schrijfster Marthe Bellefroid. Dit pseudoniem was in feite de naam van haar grootmoeder, die een Française was. Ook langs vaders kant had de familie Franse roots, zij stamden af van uitgeweken hugenoten. Haar lager en middelbaar onderwijs volgde ze in Antwerpen, waarna ze een paar voorbereidende jaren studeerde in het ‘Institut supérieur pour demoiselles’, om tenslotte aan het Brusselse ‘Institut supérieur Gatti de Gamont’ het diploma van regentes te behalen. Vanaf 1920 was ze als onderwijzeres verbonden aan verschillende lagere scholen in de wijk de Seefhoek. Vanaf 1930 werd ze lerares opvoedkunde aan de normaalschool van Antwerpen.

In de Tweede Wereldoorlog werd ze inspectrice van het kleuteronderwijs en na de oorlog werd ze ontslagen zonder pensioen. Hierna werkte ze onder meer bij de uitgeverij De Sikkel en daarna als lerares aan een internationale school in het Zwitserse Villars. Uiteindelijk werd ze een paar jaar op wachtgeld gesteld, en kreeg ze toch nog haar pensioen.
Haar eerste boek schreef ze in het Frans, daarna schakelde ze over naar het Nederlands.

Zij publiceerde ook een paar kinderboeken en een 200-tal kinderverhalen (in het weekblad Vrouw en huis) onder het pseudoniem Bella Wildert (Bella was de bijnaam die ze van de kinderen op school gekregen had, en ze woonde een tijdje in Wildert).

Rose Gronon is the pseudonym of Marthe Bellefroid, a Flemish writer. This pseudonym was actually the name of her grandmother, who was French. Her paternal family also had French roots, being descendants from Huguenots that fled France. She finished her primary and secondary education in Antwerp, after which she continued her studies for a few years in the ‘Institut supérieur pour demoiselles’(Superior Preparatory Institut for young ladies). She then earned het teacher's grade at the ‘Institut supérieur Gatti de Gamont’ (Brussels Superior Institut Gatti Gamont). From 1920 on she was attached to different primary schools in the district Seefhoek as a teacher. From 1930 she taught pedagogy at the Antwerp normal school.
In World War II she became inspector of primary education and after the war she was fired without a pension. She then worked at the publishing house De Sikkel and later as a teacher at an international school in the Villars (Switserland). Finally, she assigned a reduced pay for a couple of years, and she still got a pension.
Her first book was written in French, then she switched to Dutch.

She also published some children's books and about 200 children's stories (in the weekly Woman and house) under the pseudonym Bella Wildert (Bella was the nickname the kids at school gave her, and she lived in Wildert for a while). ...more
