The migraines started in the early 60’s, causing me to drop out of university. I went to work as a temporary laborer sweeping out boxcars (that had been used to transport wheat), and the migraines stopped. This I quit doing, after deciding to article as a Chartered Accountant. It was a successful, but challenging career choice, especially since the headaches had returned. However, in the early 80's, while skiing, I met an Optometrist who thought that he might be able to sort out the headaches for me.

We met at his office and within a few minutes he had discovered the problem. Apparently my left eye was focusing at a lower level than my right eye, and that was creating a lot of eyestrain especially while reading. With that little problem under control and behind me, I was invited in as a partner with a large firm of Chartered Accountants. I eventually left the accounting profession to work for, and eventually become CEO of, a publicaly traded company that designed, manufactured, and distributed high performance outerwear.

While all of that was going on, I married my lovely wife Carole and became the father of two children, Aaron and Heather. Can anyone ask for anything more?

When I eventually retired, I decided to keep myself occupied by writing a novel, which is now published and called TAMING ARMAGEDDON. Yikes, little did I know how steep the learning curve would be.

In 2002, I took a job as interim director of finance for the City of Iqaluit, which evolved into a job as a financial adviser with the territorial Government of Nunavut.

During that two year period, I completed my novel, and started a second novel, called HUNKER CREEK’S GOLD, which is currently been read by my publisher. I also wrote a personal account of what I had learned about the Inuit people’s struggle to survive in one of the harshest climates on earth. I was able to versify some of my more personal thoughts which to this day trigger vivid memories of the two years that I experienced while working where the Inuit love to call home. I can assure you that I would not have had the intrepidity to create such a work, let alone call it THE HIGH ARCTIC’S BLUE BLOODS, if it had started out to be a commercial venture.

So here I am back in southern British Columbia, still skiing in the winter, and working on a fourth novel.
