Cara Diaconoff earned a B.A. at Oberlin College, an M.A. in English literature at University of Wisconsin, and an M.F.A. in creative writing at Indiana University. She has taught writing and literature as a visiting professor at Southern Methodist University and at Whitman College, as a lecturer at Texas Christian University, and as a Peace Corps volunteer at colleges in Russia. She also served as managing editor of THE GETTYSBURG REVIEW. Currently, she teaches at Bellevue College, near Seattle.

Diaconoff is the author of UNMARRIAGEABLE DAUGHTERS: STORIES, published by Lewis-Clark Press; two novels, I'LL BE A STRANGER TO YOU and MARIAN HAL;, and THE FOLKTALE COLLECTOR'S DAUGHTER AND OTHER STORIES, forthcoming in fall 2026.
