Born in 1894, died in 1965. Edmund Mudrak was an Austrian ethnologist and editor of several collections of folk tales, legends, and myths for young people, some of which are still in print. At the University of Vienna Mudrak wrote his dissertation on the Wieland legend. Before 1945 he edited the series Dürrs Sammlung deutscher Sagen (Dürr's Collection of German Legends) and Märchen der Ostvölker (Folktales of the Eastern People). His nationalism led him to become a professor of ethnology at the University of Posen in occupied Poland.
