Dr. Alfred Barnerd Smith was a gospel music composer, soloist, lecturer, recording artist and music publisher. He was known as "Mr. Singspiration", after the ministry of the same name that he started with Billy Graham.
Smith began his career in gospel music in 1930 with a WKBO radio show called "the Old Fashioned Gospel Hour." In 1937, he graduated from the Moody Bible Institute in and became the Minister of Music at The Church of the Open Door in Philadelphia.
