What really hooked me was how naturally you wove werewolves, sorcery laws, and old world policing into a narrative that still feels grounded and human. Bassé himself is a terrific anchor, methodical, sharp, but navigating a world that’s constantly bending the rules of reality. And the missing Notaire case has this slow burn tension that feels both historical and deliciously uncanny. The whole thing reads like someone resurrected the best parts of classic French crime fiction and slipped in just enough magic to let the shadows breathe.
