I'm a cultural anthropologist and freelance writer whose work has appeared in publications including Washington Post, MarketWatch, USA Today and MoneyGeek. I love writing and traveling, and especially observing and learning from other cultures. I have a creative writing master's degree from Johns Hopkins and a PhD in Anthropology from Princeton.

I've written ethnographies about my fieldwork in Morocco and a novel. More about my books can be found at my Amazon page, which has links to all my books.

Spellbinding and devastating, this book truly sucked me in. The characters were so real and vivid, and the author perfectly captures one family’s turmoil and the fallout from the intergenerational trauma of having lived through the Great Hunger. Wow.

This memoir out slow for me, but it became really absorbing once she got into her teenage years. Really enjoyed it. She does a great job showing how a place of origin can both pull you in and push you away.

A powerful story about women’s friendships, race, class, America. My favorite Tayari Jones novel so far. So good.
