Tamika is an author, artist, and teacher of lament whose work speaks to the lonely, the heartbroken, and the wandering.

A Black woman living in Austria, she writes for sojourners—those navigating life between cultures, learning to carry faith, grief, and hope in places that do not always make room for them. Her words resonate with expats, seekers, and anyone who has ever felt unseen or out of place.

She is the co-author of Liturgies and Laments for the Sojourner, Volumes 1 and 2, and teaches lament as a spiritual practice—an honest pathway to worship that invites us to bring our pain to God and draw nearer to the Creator.

In a world that rushes past grief and prizes resilience over truth, Tamika’s work offers space to slow down, tell the truth

Scott Harrison
“Imagine you’re standing on an island, looking at water on all sides. You think that this little piece of real estate, which represents your capacity for love, is all there is. Then you have your first child, and a bubbling happens off in the distance and a giant new island appears. You realize that the new island was part of your heart all along, just submerged. And then you think you could never love another child like this one, but you look off to the left, and a brand-new island appears: your second child. And your heart expands even more. You’re not borrowing from or shutting down other parts to feel more love. It’s an additive process, like reclaiming land from the sea.”
Scott Harrison, Thirst

Mother Teresa
“We ourselves feel that what we are doing is just a drop in the ocean. But the ocean would be less because of that missing drop.”
Mother Theresa

“The weak can never forgive. Forgiveness is the attribute of the strong.”

Mahatma Gandhi
“A thousand candles can be lighted from the flame of one candle, and the life of the candle will not be shortened. Happiness can be spread without diminishing that of yourself.”
Ghandi

Suzanne Stabile
“perfection is like an ice sculpture: it lasts only as long as there’s no change in the atmosphere.”
