One Place de l'Eglise is a rare treat. Funny and moving in equal measure, you can't help but be swept up in Trevor Dolby and his family's French oddysey. The writing is wonderfully evocative. As soon as I finished it, my wife read it and loved it too ...more | |

Master the art of taking a story from page to screen with novelist, screenwriter and head of subject in creative writing at Brunel University, Max Kinnings, along with special guest, award-winning producer/director, Phil Hawkins. This two day masterclass will cover all aspects of the adaptation process, analysis of source material, screenplay structure, characterisation and story design. What makes a good adaptation? Why do some screen adaptations fail while others succeed? Isn't every screenplay an adaptation of sorts?

Whereas Baptism concerns itself with religious fundamentalists hijacking a London Tube train, Sacrifice tells of the Christmas Day kidnapping of the Poynter family in their central London mansion by persons, very much, unknown. A disgraced hedge fund manager, Graham Poynter has good reason to want to hide away from the media and those anonymous forces ranged against him. But try as hard as he may to keep himself and his family out of the spotlight, there are some people who will stop at nothing to make sure that he pays for his crimes in the most public and brutal way imaginable.
