Jim Asher is the world’s leading authority on the life and poetry of Emmett Lee Dickinson, Emily Dickinson’s third cousin, twice removed (at her request). He received an honorary doctorate degree from Dickinson College’s community college campus in Washerst (pronounced “WAS-herst”), Pennsylvania. He is also an aficionado of E. E. Cummings, Robert Frost, and other great American poets. He was Time Magazine’s “Person of the Year” in 2006.

He lives with his wife, Brooke, near Charlottesville, Virginia. They have two daughters. One attends school at VCU in Richmond, and the other works at improv theaters in Chicago. When not researching the works of Emmett Lee Dickinson and other poets, Jim works as a middle school administrator.
