Maria Arena bought her first typewriter at 19 and began playing with the notion of becoming a author. The arrival of her two children created a happy detour in her plans, but eventually she returned to full time study, completing her BA (Comm) degree at the University of the Sunshine Coast (USC). This was followed by an Honours degree, from which 'Mira Falling' was developed, and later published by Hachette. A Doctorate of Creative Arts seemed like the next logical step and it was during this time that 'Sisterhood' was written. Since completing (for now!) her studies, Maria has been employed by USC to present the Creative Writing Excellence Program in regional high schools in SE Queensland,and she continues to write novels and short stories ...more
