I like to read. A lot. And once, a while back, I wrote a book. I was lucky enough to be one of those whose book was actually published, and better still, have many people read. I might write another one some day, but right now, I am back to mostly reading, raising kids, and editing other people's words for a living, and being amazed that a little piece of my heart is floating around in the pages of a book with my name on it. It's a good life. ...more

A New Game Plan

We are in the throws of winter here in Virginia, and despite all the predictions for a warmer-than-usual and snowier-than-usual January, it has been brutally, arctic-ly cold, and not at all snowy. It's not at all what I expected, and I find myself wistfully thinking of green trees and warm sun, even while knowing when Spring comes, I'll be longing for snow.

The fact is, even when you know a sea Read more of this blog post »

Wow! Congratulations! That is HUGE news! I've been trying to figure out how to get my book endorsed for years now. Thank you so much for the JDRF lead. I've just emailed them to see what needs to be done to be listed on their site. I really appreciate it. And congratulations again. That is fabulous and you deserve it.

Heidi Willis katherine - what a great message to get! Thanks so much! I can't tell you what your support has meant to me!

The big news this week is that the JDRF (Intl.) has taken on my book to endorse and will feature it on their website sometime this fall. I'll make sure to let you know the date when I find out.

There are a few other big things that may follow from this as well, but right now I'm in waiting mode. It's slow going so far.

The JDRF is starting a book review page on their website, and I think you and Eric could submit your books as well. I just went to the website and contacted the person under the media section and asked if they'd be interested in reading my book, and they sent a form for me to submit. Easy peasy!

Good luck on your JDRF walk! I should look into getting involved with that in my area as well!

:) heidi

Katherine Marple Hi Heidi

Just checking in! How have sales on your book been going?

I am having a reading party to celebrate the collection of diabetes poetry collecion "No-Sugar Added Poetry" that was written by TuDiabetes members and the Diabetes Hands Foundation in a few weeks. The book came out on July 20, 2010.

I'm putting together a raffle and just wanted to let you know that I bought an extra copy of "Some Kind of Normal" to raffle off to my friends.

I also grabbed a copy of my book "Wretched (this is my sorry)" and a copy of Eric Devine's "This Side of Normal" to raffle off.

I hope that it spreads the word about our books and hope we will sell more copies as they're great stories.

All the proceeds to the raffle I'm going to be donating to my team "Fighting The Unseen" which is walking for JDRF on Sept 19th in CT.

Just letting you know that I'm still pushing your work out to others!

Happy sales!

~Katherine
