As a child, I moved around a lot. The places I lived that influenced me most are Iowa and Idaho.
When I began studying writing, I wrote poetry and thought of myself as a poet. Sometime in graduate school, I took the lyric, fragmented approach of poetry and began to write prose. I usually write prose these days, generally fiction.
I'm currently working on a YA novel, and beginning work on a book of creative nonfiction.
I earned an MA in Poetry from Western Washington University and a PhD in Fiction from University of Utah. I live in Salt Lake City with my husband, son, and a German Shorthair Pointer.

Very entertaining! A quick, fun read. Fast paced, good plot, bringing us a little closer to the story about Hawthorne. Overall, entertaining.

This novel could not have been more politically fraught (it's about Israel and Palestine! I didn't know that when I started it....) but it actually ends up navigating the complexity quite well, in my opinion. I didn't really remember much about this ...more
