Semi-retired foreign expert in applied linguistics in China and South Korea, I was a public educator for 38 years at both the secondary and tertiary levels in those countries and also the U.S.

I hold a Ph.D in English/EFL education from the University of Hawaii at Manoa, a M.A. in Curriculum Studies from the University of Texas at Austin, and a B.A. in History and English from the University of Wisconsin at Madison.

My research and writing interests include comparative education, curriculum design, recent Chinese history, American history, and East Asian history.

My reading interests include classic Western and Chinese literature, contemporary Chinese literature, and young adult fiction.
