For a long time, Dinis Machado hid behind the shadow of an american pseudonym, invented for the Rififi collection, that directed at the invitation of Roussado Pinto, a trilogy of crime stories with a bourgeois hero, a professional assassin, with philosophical worries, prone to monologues and literary citations and that always acted alone, named Peter Maynard, a reference to Pierre Ménard, the Borges character that tried to replicate Dom Quixote. Mão Direita do Diabo, Requiem Para D.Quixote and Mulher e Arma com Guitarra Espanhola we're written in a period of one year, when the author needed 100 euros for the occasion of his daughter's birth.
