Páll was born in Reykjavík, but grew up in Hafnarfjörður. After graduating from the Commercial College of Iceland, he studied Sociology and Literature at the University of Iceland, and then Film Studies at the University of Copenhagen. He has worked as a journalist, an editor, in the advertising industry, and on documentaries, notably with the director Hilmar Oddsson.
Páll has written scripts for television and two crime novels with Árni Þórarinsson, as well as the many works that he has published individually.
He is married with four children and lives in Reykjavík.
