FJ Reid is the oldest of three children. She has four children of her own and one step daughter, and is a step granny to Oscar. Her first husband died of leukaemia in 1997, and she is now married to Patrick, with whom she had her youngest child, for whom her books were written.
She has loved horses for as long as she can remember, and not been without some since 1971.
She has always liked King Arthur and the legends surrounding him, so a lot of her writing is around that subject.

Writing about King Arthur

When I was a child I saw The Sword in the Stone, the Disney film, and promptly fell in love with the legend of King Arthur. I read as much as I could about him, played with my brother and sister at the Knights of the Round table, enjoyed Camelot, the musical, and the ancient tv series with Oliver Tobias. I think that was what converted me from a fan of the romance to a fan of the historical side.
