A.C. Henley was from the Dallas-Fort Worth area and lived in Texas with her partner until her death in 2009 from ovarian cancer. She was born into a large family with varied belief systems and was the middle child of seven. Her parents were strong Catholics, yet her mother was also part Apache and those traditions honored as well. McKee was her only published book, but she had a number of stories posted on online sites.
