Lawrence G. Calhoun is Professor of Psychology at UNC Charlotte, in the United States, and he is a Licensed Psychologist. Although his parents were North American, he was born and raised in Brazil. He is co-author/co-editor of several books and of more than 90 articles published in professional journals. He teaches undergraduate and graduate students and is a recipient of the Bank of America Award for Teaching Excellence and of the University of North Carolina Board of Governors Award for Excellence in Teaching. His current scholarly activities are focused on the responses of persons encountering major life crises, particularly the phenomenon of posttraumatic growth.
