The statement “THIS NOTE IS LEGAL TENDER FOR ALL DEBTS, PUBLIC AND PRIVATE” is displayed in small font, and the term “FEDERAL RESERVE NOTE” is written at the top. In my right hand, I’m holding a $1 bill created in 1935. It says “UNITED STATES OF AMERICA” near the top and “ONE DOLLAR” on the bottom. “THIS NOTE IS LEGAL TENDER FOR ALL DEBTS, PUBLIC AND PRIVATE” is displayed in small font, but the most important difference is that it displays the words “SILVER CERTIFICATE” at the top. As they say, the devil is in the details.”
