George X. Sand was born in Manahawkin, New Jersey, on April 16, 1915. He attended public schools in New Jersey, the Massachusetts Radio and Telegraph School in Boston, and the Capitol Radio Engineering Institute in Washington, D. C. Now a freelance magazine writer and photojournalist, he is a director of the Outdoor Writers Association of America. He has had hundreds of articles, fiction features, and photo stories published in top U.S. magazines. He has also written short stories that have been reprinted a dozen times, used in English books, and used by the State Department for broadcast into Iron Curtain countries.
