Deborough (Debbie) Blalock received a B.A. in English Literature from Duke University in 1974. She lives in Durham, North Carolina on Palofields Farm and owns and manages a retirement home for horses.

An advocate of adopting animals from rescues and shelters, Debbie has adopted horses, dogs, cats, and goats. She is a dolphin activist.
