“What is a simple small change that I can do to make my life better”
Emily Morrow, Really Very Crunchy: A Beginner's Guide to Removing Toxins from Your Life without Adding Them to Your Personality

“there are far too many opportunities for us to close others out and isolate ourselves in the name of seeking out a specific type of community.”
Emily Morrow, Really Very Crunchy: A Beginner's Guide to Removing Toxins from Your Life without Adding Them to Your Personality

“Here is the truth as I’ve learned it: a crunchy life needs to be all about balance. An unbalanced approach to life isn’t usually a happy one, no matter what the situation is. Thinking in extremes might be more natural (get it?), but I find that trying to maintain that sort of rigid control only leads to feelings of guilt and shame. Guilt and shame can creep up in many ways. There’s the kind of guilt that comes with “I’m not doing enough,” and there’s the kind of guilt that comes with “Oh, man, I messed up . . .” Those are two things we need to get rid of right off the bat.”
