I'm a reader, a writer, a teacher, and a medievalist, whose happy place is in either an archive or a bookstore with a cup of coffee in my hand and the sound of rain outside. Turn-offs include bad prose, overdone metaphors, flat female characters, exposition dumps, formulaic titles (e.g. "The Girl at the Window on the Train with a Tattoo"; "The [male profession]'s [female relation]"), and misuse of apostrophes.
