Harry Golding (1870 - 1947) was born on 8 June 1870 in Hendon, the son of boot-maker Frank Golding and Mary Dancy.
At a young age, he entered the advertising department of publisher Ward Lock & Co. From there, he rose to be a publisher's reader and the editor of Windsor Magazine and the Wonder Book series for children. He also wrote a few novels, including Between Two Fires (1900). He married and had a son and a daughter. For much of his life, he was deaf.
Golding died on 1 April 1947 in London.
