Nacida a principios de primavera en Madrid, España, Gee R. Rothvoss comenzó a garabatear historias con caligrafía cuestionable a muy temprana edad. Tras graduarse en Psicología, decidió especializarse en la intervención con discapacidad, diversidad e inclusión realizando tanto el Máster en Educación Especial como el Máster en Psicología General Sanitaria.

Habiéndose criado con una dieta rica en fantasía urbana, comedias románticas y literatura gótica, a Gee le encanta escribir historias que mezclen lo sobrenatural, mágico o inexplicable con una dosis saludable de humor ácido, una buena guarnición de sarcasmo y un trasfondo de crítica social.

This fourth installment in the IR series goes back to Marco, Roberto's brother, who isn't living his best life right now. He's failing at uni, he's got a hopeless crush on his brother's boyfriend James, and he's seeing a much older man, Nicola, who seems to be convinced that there's no way anyone else knows what Marco needs or wants..., particularly not Marco himself. When a date night goes terribly wrong, Marco is rescued by Luís, a gorgeous young person he's immediately drawn to, and as he gets to know them, he starts wondering if maybe he can aim for true love and a happy ever after.

Elen's stories have a way to tug at your heartstrings with every line, and this one was no different. I laughed, cried, gasped, and sobbed with this book, to the point that I never wanted it to end! Luís was an incredible, fascinating character, and I enjoyed every single word we got from their point of view. Marco, whom we've already met in previous books in the series, turned out to be a far more complex and fun guy than we could have expected, and he's become my sweet baby! But what I loved the most was their love. The way they loved, cherished, and respected each other, the way they made it look easy, the way their feelings are so strong that you can almost borrow them and feel them a little yourself. It's Elen's depiction of love, I believe, that makes this series so special.

And it's not just romantic love; there's sibling love, there's parental love, there's friendship. There's so much love, in so many shapes, that you can't possibly walk away from this series without feeling like your heart is a little fuller, your world is a little brighter, and things are a little less heavy. And that's why Elen's books will always be a safe place, I think. Because they hug you and say, hey, hey, it's okay, you have the strength to carry on and you will be loved.

That was particularly present in this fourth installment, as Marco definitely has a heavy heart and feels so defeated. Anyone who has ever felt this way will understand how precious this book is, in that sense; and will be able to value the gentle love in its pages. Despite the family feuds, despite the past, despite everything, there's always love at the end of the day, and you're always worthy of it if you can just reach out and grab a friendly hand.

I don't know that this is a conventional review, or that I've talked a lot about the actual story, but this is what you walk away with. And I believe that we could all use a little bit more of it these days.
