Fernão Pessoa Ramos is Professor at the Department of Cinema Studies, Arts Institute, State University of Campinas (UNICAMP). Founding president of Socine (Brazilian Society of Film Studies), he presided the association between 1997 and 2001. He also served as visiting professor at the Department of Cinema and Audiovisual/University of Paris III (Sorbonne Nouvelle), in 2002 and 2015, and also at Nanterre/Paris X University, in 2013. In 2012 he published 'A Imagem-Câmera' (Papirus) ('The camera-image') and, in 2008, 'Mas afinal... o que é mesmo documentário?' ("After all... what 'really' is documentary?") (Ed.Senac). He edited, with Luiz Felipe Miranda, an "Encyclopedia of Brazilian Cinema", which had a third edition (2012). For two times (in 1997 and 2014) he received the 'Prêmio de Reconhecimento Acadêmico Zeferino Vaz', the highest distinguished prize awarded by UNICAMP for researchers. He has post-doctoral studies, always with FAPESP fellowships, at the Tisch School of Arts/New York University (1996/97), at UCLA (University of California/ Los Angeles - 2000/01), at Université de Montreal (2005) and at University of Indiana/Bloomington (2014).
