Laura Ashley Fisher Smith was born on November 27, 1986, on Thanksgiving Day. She was born and raised in the north Bronx section of New York. She started writing at the tender age of just ten years old and wrote her first book when she was only sixteen. By the age of twenty-five, she had already published three books. The genres she writes consist mostly of poetry but also Christian, children, and fictional stories.
