“find myself asking Jesus over and over again, “Teach me, Lord, how to be a man. Teach me how to work, how to play, how to rest, how to eat, how to pray, how to enjoy friendship. Help me be ever more human.”
John Riccardo, Rerouting: Finding Our Way Back to God and His Church

“The word for “parish” in Greek is paroikia, which comes from the word for “exile,” meaning “stranger,” “sojourner,” “alien.” To be a parish is to be a collection of exiles. That means that this is not our home. We are walking together as brothers and sisters, trying to encourage and exhort one another, support one another, love one another, and help one another get home.”
John Riccardo, Heaven Starts Now: Becoming a Saint Day by Day

“we are an exceedingly anxious culture. I might argue that ours is a culture that has no hope. I say this because hope is a specifically Christian virtue. If you do not know who God is, and you do not know what Jesus has done, then you don’t have any hope.”
Fr. John Riccardo, Unshakeable Hope in the Midst of the Storm
