“When you talk to an author or an artist, you’re only ever getting half the story. We are crafting narratives for you. We are leaving the messy details out.”

“That's the problem with picking sides, Terra. You end up fighting for someone else. But who is to say that someone else has ever been fighting for you?”

“Mr. Leopold Bloom ate with relish the inner organs of beasts and fowls,'" he's saying, bending over to gaze down into the deli case. His breath is fogging the glass. I'm watching it suddenly. Watching him. "'He liked thick giblet soup, nutty gizzards, a stuffed roast heart-'"
"'Liverslices fried with crustcrumbs, fried hencods' roes,'" I say, and I'm sure I sound a little stunned. I'm not used to boys coming into the deli to quote some of my favorite modernist literature. Even I can't resist that. A boy like him, who, from the first moment, seems to love the things I love.”

Bwahaha, Phoebe, I'm so glad you sent that slightly awkward friend request! I am nothing if not eternally awkward and loving it. A) Charles Wallace Murray is an AWESOME choice, and I think I'd rather be him than Meg too. B) The fact that you have a blue Pernese dragon tattoo is pretty much the COOLEST THING EVER...I 'may' have once belonged to a Pern fan fiction community in which I wrote a character who was a vintner and a brown dragon rider. C) YES, we should definitely chat books (I totally want to read The Crossing which you are reading atm and I first heard of today).
Hi Phoebe, I wondered if you'd seen the latest episode of Doctor Who. Tis even more obnoxiously sexist than The Girl who Waited. And pretty dodgy ethically overall. *burns tardis*
Prince Bernardo wrote: "Hey Phoebe, thanks for the friendvite! I'm glad you liked the review, I was terrified people would lynch me because I'd liked The Selection but as it turns out, everybody already knows that I'm wei..."Awesome so far! Really enjoying it.
Weirdos are the best people. :)
Hey Phoebe, thanks for the friendvite! I'm glad you liked the review, I was terrified people would lynch me because I'd liked The Selection but as it turns out, everybody already knows that I'm weird anyway. Now I feel bad and not mysterious. Dammit. But hey, how's Magisterium going?
Hi Phoebe! I just wanted to let you know how much I appreciate your comments on the science fiction/dystopia/romance thread that's been kicking around GR the last couple days. You addressed a lot of hot button issues I have with the way folks talk about books and their respective merit. :)
Catie wrote: "Hey Phoebe - thanks for the friend request! I've been a long time admirer of your reviews, and I'm really looking forward to your book. It's great to see new authors writing sci-fi! Happy reading."Thanks so much, Catie! Can't wait to talk books with you. :)
Hey Phoebe, thanks for accepting my friend invite. I too look forward to discussing books with you and reading your reviews. I'm a bit lazy when it comes to writing my own reviews, but I do enjoy a good book discussion (usually "inside" my friend's reviews).
Hey Phoebe, did you hear that Google will be discontinuing Google Friend Connect for all non-blogger blogs in March 2012? I saw on The Intergalactic Academy that you guys have hit 100 followers! Congrats!
Thanks for the friend invite -- you beat me by seconds. :) I was about to request you. I agree, the Ashfall discussion on Kat's review is one of the best discussions I have had on GR. Thanks for your thoughts. I look forward to discussing books (and maybe more) with you!
Ashelynn wrote: "Phoebe!! Congrats on your book deal; i freaking LOVE the premise of it and can't wait to read STARGLASS! :)"Thank you, Ashelynn! I'm excited about sharing it with you.
Vi wrote: "*waves* Hey congrats on finding representation! (though I think I'm a bit late :( )"Ha, there's no deadline or anything! ;) Thanks!
Flannery wrote: "I've been stalking you for a while on here anyway!I am glad to be your friend! I look forward to chatting about books with you, Phoebe, especially since I've read a lot of your well-worded comment..."
Open message to stalkers: FRIEND ME I LIKE FRIENDS ESPECIALLY IF FRIENDS WRITE AWESOME REVIEWS!
;)
I am glad to be your friend! I look forward to chatting about books with you, Phoebe, especially since I've read a lot of your well-worded comments on the YA fiascos of late.
Vinaya wrote: "Andrea Tompa emailed me! And gave me an interview! Thanks Phoebe, I owe you one! :) *hugs*"Oh yay! I can't wait to read it!!
Are you a Twilight fan? Because if you're not, you should thank HarperTeen for not giving you Starcrossed! It's pretty much Twilight of the Demigods. :)

Looking forward to reading and discovering more of your work.
Best wishes for more books in the future,
Genie
