Haunting and unexpected and brilliant. I don’t know if it’s clever or heart-breaking or some combination of many other adjectives. This is a story that will sit with me for a while.

Have you started The Sound and the Fury? If so, I wish you better luck than I had. Reading Faulkner has always been a challenge, particularly with his penchant for inserting "stream-of-consciousness" writing. If memory serves, I counted 2-3 pages of prose without a single period. I don't have the patience for that.
