Bill Cissna was born and adopted in Chicago, IL; lived in Kalamazoo, MI; then started fourth grade in Mt. Lebanon, PA, a southern suburb of Pittsburgh. He earned a BA-English degree at Allegheny College, Meadville, PA; worked in advertising and PR in Meadville, Pittsburgh and (after 1986) central North Carolina.

Now a resident of Kernersville, NC, he has written fiction since high school days, including a number of short stories in the horror and detective genres in the 1980s and 1990s. His first full-length novel (A Simple Murder) uses the same Mt. Lebanon-based P.I., Jack Larson, as his detective short stories. The novel is available as a Kindle or Nook eBook, or a paperback on Amazon.com. His second novel, Fictionography of a Mental Cowar
