My name is Marie August, and I am a writer/artist. I have been encouraged since I was a child to pursue a passion for fiction by my mother, Kate McMurry, a writer and English teacher.

I have also from a young age shown talent and interest in art. I completed a BA in Arts and Visual Technology with a concentration in Drawing from George Mason University of Fairfax, Virginia. I graduated in 2005, shortly after my 20th birthday.

My mother and I have written as a team since 2006. Our first novel, Girl vs Ghost, a young adult, humorous, contemporary fantasy, was published in April of 2011.
