An ordained minister, L.A. Holly (pseudonym used by Gene Strother), served churches in California and Texas, first as a youth minister, then as a church-school principal, and finally as senior pastor.

In additioned to being an ordained minister and licensed educator, Holly is also a licensed insurance adjuster. After Hurricane Katrina, he spent nine months in New Orleans in that capacity.

Holly is a syndicated sportswriter, blogger and story-teller. He and his wife, Donya, have three grown daughters and (so far) one super-cool grandson.
