I moved to Vancouver in my twenties, but I grew up in Richmond, BC, a city below sea level, where none of the houses have basements. 'can this be right' is my first novel.

I have a younger brother, a son, and two nephews who, while I was writing can this be right, never hesitated to ask me: How’s the book going, auntie Sarah? Especially Maks, who, unfortunately, will not be old enough to read this book for quite some time.

As of late, The Avoider and The Pleaser are my most persistent saboteurs. They both showed up a lot during the writing of this book.
