"This is a gripping, unforgettable memoir. I read a lot, and few books I’ve read have impacted me as strongly as this one. I was glued to it every spare second from the moment I started it until I turned the last page. Laura Engel’s story about becomi"

"“When You Read This I’ll be Gone” is the first book I have read by author Anne Moose, but it certainly will not be the last! In fact, I just purchased a second eBook. I am thrilled to add this skilled and creative writer to my list of favorite author"

You had me at family secrets…. Anne’s storytelling has such a lovely, simple, honest vibe that captures both the smooth and rough edges of family life. I’m a sucker for stories about family secrets and this scratched the itch big time. Of course, you ...more |

“I know almost nothing and I’m not the center of the universe. I’m going to die, so I better get to living. Time does not wait. I will learn from history and from those who have journeyed before me. Their stories will help light my path. I will never let anyone silence me or tell me what to believe or say. I will use logic and observation to understand the world and build my truth on that foundation. With the help of books, mentors, and friends, I will find my place in the world. I will find love. I will find joy. I will find meaning. I will never stop searching until the day I die.”

“Aristotle - Observe, make claims, use logic. Buddha - Existence is suffering. Suffering is caused by attachment. The self is an illusion. Descartes - Throw away all beliefs that are not certain. Start from there. Foucault - First, study history. If you are subjugated, rise up. Hume - Nothing is morally absolute. We can never truly understand ourselves. Kant - There are moral absolutes. Suck it, Hume. Kierkegaard - Religion is subjective and should be kept far away from government. Mills - Speak your mind. Keep a close eye on the folks in charge. Nietzsche - Nothing has meaning except what you give it. Live your truth. Plato - The world doesn’t revolve around you. You better justify! Sartre – You’re going to die. The universe doesn’t care. Own it. Socrates - We know nothing.”
