Claudio Marra graduated in Aesthetics in 1976 with a thesis titled “Photography's Theory and Practice in the Historical Avant-gardes”. He taught Photography at the Accademie di Belle Arti in Ravenna, Florence, and Rome. From 1997 to 2000 he has been a History of Photography lecturer at the University of Bologna College of Liberal Arts where he became tenured as Associate Professor in 2001.
He also teaches at the University of Bologna Postgraduate School for the Art-Historical Heritage.
His research is focused on the historical and theoretical issues concerning photography's position within the broader and more organic field of aesthetics. He is also interested in the relationship between photography and the visual arts. Besides his academic ...more
