Gretchen is an internationally-published author who spent many years working in the fields of education and travel. Her parents had always encouraged her to write, but she waited until she heard “you are a writer" from more trustworthy advisors: a London psychic, and a taxicab driver in Athens, Greece. The taxicab driver also said they had been lovers in a previous life. She has traveled to over forty-five countries, and set foot on all seven continents. Her first foray into writing was the 2012 memoir I HAVE IRAQ IN MY SHOE, which was re-released in 2025. Also released in 2025 was her suspense/thriller ANTIGUA. Her 2020 novel THE OPERATOR has been translated into six languages, and was an Amazon “Editor’s Pick” for Best Literature & Fictio ...more

“Game of Thrones changed television. They almost made it difficult to fall in love with people because you didn't know if they were going to be taken away from you. That show's had an influence on all TV dramas that have come after it.”
Gretchen Berg

“On a show about diversity and with different points of view, I feel like you have to accept that some people believe in God, some people want to worship a potato, and some people don't want to believe in anything. I think there is room for that on Star Trek.”
Gretchen Berg

“In every person's life there comes a moment; an opportunity for redemption, a chance at genuine personal growth, to become a better human being. Sometimes this moment is preceded by a jolt of clarity or some startling occurrence or disaster; it often involves an unflinching, hard look at oneself and one's actions, an enormous, and likely painful, gulp of pride, and a Herculean effort at apology.”
Gretchen Berg, The Operator

“No two persons ever read the same book.”
Edmund Wilson

“The first duty of the novelist is to entertain. It is a moral duty. People who read your books are sick, sad, traveling, in the hospital waiting room while someone is dying. Books are written by the alone for the alone.”
Donna Tartt

“My imagination functions much better when I don't have to speak to people.”
Patricia Highsmith

“If you are irritated by every rub, how will your mirror be polished?”
Rumi

“Life is either a daring adventure or nothing at all.”
Helen Keller, The Open Door
