Daree was born in Pittsburgh, PA, and raised in Central NY. She got her first corporate job as a technical writer at Lucent Technologies (now Nokia) just a mere month after graduating with her Bachelor of Science in Professional and Technical Communication from the State University of New York (SUNY) Polytechnic Institute). She relocated to Washington, D.C. in 1999 to pursue a career in technical writing. During her tenure, she also earned her Master of Science in Interdisciplinary Studies in Management from the University of Maryland University College (UMUC) in Adelphi, MD.

Part memoir, part self-help, What’s Wrong With Me? encourages girls to embrace their uniqueness, learn to love themselves and stay close to God. The companion book, the What’s Wrong With Me? Reflections Journal digs deeper into the contemporary topics discussed in the book What’s Wrong With Me? that affect teen girls' everyday lives. With interactive, thought-provoking workbook-style questions and fill-in-the-blank exercises, girls can openly and honestly record their thoughts and feelings to help them release tension and understand the world around them. The self-discovery, revelation and release will lead to profound fulfillment and start their own life-long practice of journaling. Her third book, Ending the Blame Game: Black Single Fathers on Relationships was published in 2014.

An award-winning author, Daree won the 2013 Stiletto Women in Business Award (SWIBA) Author of the Year Award for her book What's Wrong With Me? This book was also finalist in the 2012 ForeWord Reviews Awards and 2012 IndieReader Discovery Awards competitions (both in the Young Adult Nonfiction category). In 2010, Daree was one of the top 100 winners of the Writer's Digest 79th Annual Writing Competition, in the Magazine Feature Writing category. In addition, Daree has been a contributing writer for several magazines and blogs including About.com, The Dollar Stretcher, Hope for Women Magazine, and Clutch Magazines.

The award-winning speaker and authorpreneur started a diary at age 12, and has never stopped writing. She has written many creative stories and articles since her youth--her high school girlfriends can tell you about the soap opera she wrote in a Composition book in the 10th grade.

Daree’s speaking talents were developed in her youth as well, from acting in plays at church and in college, to emceeing a variety of programs in her local community. She has taught spiritual discipleship classes and presented business and professional development topics at organizational chapter meetings, workshops, conferences, schools, and universities across the country for such organizations as The Society for Technical Communication (STC), the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) at Strayer University, and the University of Houston's BLACKE Student Summit. Daree has also been a mentor and facilitator, conducting divorce recovery workshops, and a Toastmasters Youth Leadership program at a local middle school among others.

Daree was a member of Toastmasters International from 2008-2012. She served in many leadership roles, including VP Education and Area Governor (both in District 66- Virginia; 2009-2010), and VP Public Relations (2011-2012) for her clubs.

In 2015, Daree earned her life coaching certification and began hosting the personal development podcast, "Kickin' it with Daree." She is also a voice actor. Her poised, polished, and professional voice is perfect for clear, corporate communications such as commercials and promos for radio, web, voicemail, on-hold messaging and training courses.
