A 3.5 star review. If possible, even darker than the other books in the series, and the only one to end with a cliff-hanger as well! Of course now I HAVE to read the last one... only I hope that it actually is the last one, and that Suzanne Collins di ...more "

Best read of 2026 so far. I listened to 14 hours in just under 3 days - could NOT put it down. Those my age and above might remember the ancient DOS game Nethack ... or the slightly newer Windows version, Castle of the Winds. Imagine that game as a bo ...more |

A 3.5 star review. A children's book, and like the earlier books in the series, actually nothing special to look at. Yet it has charmed me completely. I think this may have a lot to do with the narrator - I think it might just be one of those books th ...more |

Every bit as good as the first book in the Duology. I had guessed many of the twists ahead of time, but I think we were supposed to - there were certainly enough clues going around. I greatly appreciated that in addition to the "enemies to lovers" tro ...more |

| I usually like Portia MacIntosh's books, but this was the first one I've read as a physical book rather than listened to as an audiobook, and I don't know ... perhaps they just work better as audiobooks? At least I don't seem to recall there being so ...more | |

| Very sweet story about a boy on an unusual quest to find his father. It was a fun 'read', and the narrator (Paul Boehmer) did an excellent job reading it. I fell completely in love with Boots and loved seeing her interact with the various characters ...more | |

A 3.5 star review. I'm "reading" these as audiobooks, which I think is a good thing. The plot itself is nothing special, but the writing works nicely as a story read aloud, and I find myself utterly charmed by the tale. Especially Boots who's just pla ...more |

“Fiordland, a vast tract of mountainous terrain that occupies the south-west corner of South Island, New Zealand, is one of the most astounding pieces of land anywhere on God's earth, and one's first impulse, standing on a cliff top surveying it all, is simply to burst into spontaneous applause.”

Your interests and favorites do seem right up there with mine. I do love the Barenstein Bears. These new ones are especially fabulous by the son of the original authors Mark Barenstein. They are all directly Christian messages. They are just great.
Excellent! Thank you :) I can't wait to read it. The author sounds familiar... I'll have to see if I've read anything else by her or am just mixing her up with somebody else.I think I'll like it too - we tend to share tastes otherwise, so I think it's a relatively safe bet :)
Hi, I'm mailing you that book today, Thunderwith by Libby Hathorn (it finally arrived yay!) - let me know when you get it so I know it didn't get lost in the mail! I hope you enjoy it, it's one of my favourites and also one of the first books I ever owned, so it has extra sentimental value (it was a surprise buy from my mum who knew how much I loved it. She didn't often do things like that. Couldn't afford to. So it was doubly sweet). If you don't like it, well, we'll never be friends again! Ha no not really, but I think you'll like it.
